Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani shared important development plans for Ajmer while celebrating the festival of Holi with journalists on Monday at a private hotel in Ajmer.
The event, organized as a Holi get-together and luncheon with media representatives, aimed to celebrate the festival of colors and strengthen communication between public representatives and the media. During the gathering, Devnani extended his Holi greetings to journalists and emphasized the crucial role of the media in spreading positive dialogue and informing citizens about development initiatives.
Ayurveda University to be Established in Ajmer
One of the major announcements highlighted by Devnani was the establishment of an Ayurveda University in Ajmer. He noted that after nearly 38 years, a bill has been passed for setting up a university in the city.
The university will not only focus on Ayurveda studies, but will also include academic programs in:
Yoga
Naturopathy
Homeopathy
This initiative aims to promote traditional Indian medicine systems and holistic healthcare education.
Major Infrastructure Projects Approved
Devnani also shared details of several infrastructure development projects approved in the state budget presented by the Chief Minister. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost Ajmer’s development.
Key allocations include:
₹16 crore for the development of Ajmer Circuit House, including a large conference hall, VIP suites, and other facilities.
₹28 crore for improving drinking water supply in Hathikheda–Boraj villages within the Ajmer Municipal Corporation area.
₹150 crore for constructing a new building for the Board of Revenue.
₹200 crore for upgrading the city’s drainage system.
₹100 crore to strengthen water outflow and sewer management infrastructure.
Tourism and Cultural Development Plans
Several tourism-related projects have also been approved to enhance Ajmer’s appeal for domestic and international visitors.
These include:
Widening of the Pushkar Valley Road for approximately 6 kilometers.
₹20 crore allocation for developing Taragarh Fort as a major tourist destination, which is expected to attract more visitors from across India and abroad.
Establishment of a spiritual center at the Swami Vivekananda Memorial.
Construction of a Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Panorama at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University.
Preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a ropeway to Chamunda Mata Temple, aimed at improving pilgrim access.
Smart City and Urban Development Initiatives
Additional projects approved for Ajmer and other cities include:
Public convenience centers for residents and tourists in Ajmer and Jaipur.
Smart parking systems in Ajmer and four other cities.
Development of model gardens as “Oxy-zones” in 16 districts, including Ajmer, to improve urban green spaces and air quality.
Improvements in Healthcare Facilities
Devnani also highlighted several initiatives to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region.
These plans include:
Establishment of 12 modular operation theatres at JLN Hospital and other medical facilities.
Construction of modern rest houses for patients and their attendants.
Creation of Basic Life Support training centers in various cities.
Formation of Mental Health Care Cells.
Upgradation of trauma centers at divisional headquarters to Level-1 Trauma Centers in a phased manner.
Steps Toward a Paperless Legislative Assembly
The Assembly Speaker also spoke about reforms aimed at modernizing legislative processes. Efforts are being made to transform the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly into a paperless system, including:
Digital management of committee meetings and official passes
Expansion of the Assembly session duration to 34 days
Devnani noted that these reforms have received positive cooperation from both the ruling party and the opposition, reflecting a collective commitment to improving governance.
