Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity

Many decades ago Stephen Hawking had stated that “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race”.

Will AI lead to mass unemployment, further concentration of wealth and stark economic disparities?

Will it lead to spread of disinformation, bias, intense polarisation and social unrest?

Can it lead to concentration of power, intense surveillance, authoritarianism and thus undermine democracy?

How will it impact warfare? Can autonomous weapons get out of control and lead to an unintended catastrophe?

So far, HomoSapiens have dominated the planet, as they are the most intelligent species. ChatGPT 4 is already showing ‘sparks of super intelligence’. Once AI becomes super intelligent, it could enslave Homosapiens or destroy them in pursuit of its own goals. Is such possibility merely a science fiction?
