ABOUT THE PLAY

PASHMINA is a story set in the backdrop of the tragedy of Kashmir. About shared loss and grieving. An army martyr's parents take a poignant trip to the valley, in the shadow of the sorrow of their neighbour, Dr Kaul. In Kashmir, they meet a boisterous trader and then, a Muslim shopkeeper, who just like them, has lost his son in the pervasive violence of Kashmir's existence. Through this interaction, they return with a symbol of pathos, reconciliation, closure, and above all; hope "“ a shawl called Pashmina.Â

First staged in August, 2018 as a Sanhita Manch winning play, Pashmina has travelled to several festivals across many cities in the country and has been staged by several theatre groups of India featuring some of their finest artists.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

SAJIDA is a 2008 graduate of the National School of Drama, Delhi. She has been a recipient of awards at META, the Natsamrat Samaroh, Rang Visharad Award among others. She helms the team at TREASURE ART ASSOCIATION (TAA). A Theatre Group from Manipur and Delhi, that has performed several acclaimed plays in India and abroad. She has directed several shows of Pashmina with a cast that has been a treasure trove of theatre artists having a formidable body of work behind them over an experience of several years and hundreds of theatrical productions.Â

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

MRINAL MATHUR is an acclaimed Delhi based writer known for over 15 original plays in Hindi and English that have been published and have been performed to full houses and critical acclaim in several cities in India and abroad by some of the leading theatre groups of the country.
