Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas has asked officials to accelerate work on Isarda Dam and drinking-water projects during a review in Tonk on October 8, 2026. The meeting also focused on involving residents in water conservation and handing over completed rural water schemes.

Held at the Tonk collectorate during his district visit, the review brought together officials working on water resources, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and the Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhagidari campaign.

Isarda Dam and drinking-water works reviewed

Srinivas examined progress on Isarda Dam construction, drinking-water distribution and the completion of PHED projects. He directed the officials concerned to speed up the work and discussed the status of land acquisition for the dam in detail.

The meeting did not announce a revised completion date. Its focus was on advancing ongoing construction and water-supply work.

Community participation and village scheme handovers

The Chief Secretary called for residents, local donors and water-user organisations to take an active role in the Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhagidari campaign. He also reviewed conservation work by rural development and panchayati raj, local self-government, watershed, groundwater and forest departments in Tonk district.

His directions included:

  • Holding Jal Chaupals, or community water meetings, in rural and urban areas, with priority given to water-conservation structures.
  • Regular reviews by the district collector with the relevant departments, alongside inspections of conservation works.
  • Organising Jal Arpan programmes to hand over drinking-water projects in rural areas where Jal Jeevan Mission works have been completed.

District Collector Tina Dabi and senior district, water-resources and PHED officials attended the review.

Faster response to cyber fraud complaints

During the same visit, Srinivas inspected Tonk's cyber police station and reviewed how complaints move through registration, FIRs, evidence collection and investigation.

He called for immediate coordination between police, banks and other agencies when a complaint is received, so action to secure defrauded funds can begin promptly. Officers were directed to identify mule accounts, freeze or seize suspicious accounts quickly and submit pending charge sheets in cyber fraud cases within the prescribed time limits.

Srinivas also stressed better staff training, access to the resources needed for investigations and wider public awareness campaigns on avoiding cyber fraud.
