Jaipur will step into the national spotlight on 15 January 2026 as it hosts the 78th Indian Army Day Parade, marking a historic first for the Pink City. For the first time, the parade will be held outside a military cantonment, transforming a major public corridor into the stage for one of India’s most significant military ceremonies.

The event, scheduled along Mahal Road in Jagatpura, is expected to draw massive public participation and stands as a landmark moment in strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and citizens.

A First for Jaipur — and for the Army Day Parade

Traditionally conducted within cantonment areas, the Army Day Parade moving into a civilian zone reflects a shift towards greater public engagement. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, while reviewing preparations, described the occasion as a moment of pride for the entire state, urging citizens to attend in large numbers.

Approximately 1.5 lakh spectators are expected to witness the parade and its rehearsals each day, making it one of the largest public military events ever hosted in Jaipur.

When & Where the Parade Will Take Place

  • Date: 15 January 2026

  • Time: Morning hours

  • Venue: Mahal Road, Jagatpura, Jaipur

Mahal Road has been selected for its wide layout, improved access, and capacity to accommodate large crowds while ensuring robust security arrangements.

Open Rehearsals Ahead of the Main Event

To allow wider public participation, the Indian Army will conduct open rehearsals on:

  • 9 January 2026

  • 11 January 2026

  • 13 January 2026

These rehearsals offer citizens an opportunity to experience the parade atmosphere ahead of the main ceremony.

What the Parade Will Showcase

The Army Day Parade will present a comprehensive display of the Indian Army’s ceremonial tradition and modern capabilities, including:

  • Ceremonial march past by Army contingents

  • Military band performances

  • Mechanised columns and armoured vehicles

  • Fighter jet and helicopter fly-pasts

  • Participation of women soldiers

  • Displays of missiles, drones, and advanced defence technology

Entry, Passes & Public Advisory

  • Entry to the parade and exhibitions will be free, though access to seated enclosures will be pass-based

  • Online and offline pass distribution details will be announced closer to the event

  • Visitors must carry valid government-issued photo identification

Authorities have advised citizens to use public transport due to traffic diversions around Jagatpura. Security restrictions may apply on drones, large bags, sharp objects, and kite flying during aerial rehearsals.

A National Event, A Civic Moment

Senior Army officials, state leadership, and administrative authorities are working in close coordination to ensure smooth execution of the celebrations. Beyond its ceremonial grandeur, the Army Day Parade in Jaipur is being seen as an opportunity for citizens—especially students, women’s groups, and ex-servicemen—to engage directly with the Army’s legacy and evolving role.

As Jaipur prepares to host this historic occasion, Army Day 2026 promises to be more than a parade—it will be a celebration of trust, sacrifice, and national pride played out in the heart of the city.
