Rajasthan Budget 2026–27: A Vision Document for 8 Crore Citizens

Rajasthan’s State Budget 2026–27, presented in the Assembly, has been described by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma as a “document of duty” for 8 crore citizens. With a 41% increase over 2023–24, the Rs. 6.10 lakh crore budget focuses on infrastructure, healthcare, education, water security, women empowerment, employment generation, and sustainable development, aiming to ensure inclusive growth and long-term prosperity across the state.

Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma described the Rajasthan State Budget 2026–27 as “a document of our duties towards 8 crore people of the state.” Addressing a press conference after Deputy Chief Minister (Finance) Diya Kumari presented the budget in the Assembly, the Chief Minister emphasized that the financial roadmap is designed to ensure holistic, inclusive, and sustainable development across Rajasthan.

Presented on the death anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay, the pioneer of the Antyodaya philosophy, the budget is dedicated to the welfare of the last person in the queue — women, youth, farmers, labourers, and the underprivileged.

 

A 41% Larger Budget with Strong Economic Growth

The total size of the Rajasthan Budget 2026–27 stands at Rs. 6,10,956 crore, marking a 41% increase compared to 2023–24.

Key economic highlights include:

  • GSDP projected at Rs. 21,52,100 crore, a 41% rise over 2023–24

  • Per capita income expected to cross Rs. 2 lakh for the first time, reaching approximately Rs. 2.23 lakh

  • Capital expenditure of Rs. 53,978 crore, more than double that of 2023–24

The Chief Minister credited efficient financial management for the state’s accelerating economic momentum.

 

Budget Built on 10 Strong Pillars

CM Sharma stated that the 2026–27 budget rests on ten transformative pillars:

  1. Infrastructure expansion

  2. Improved civic amenities and quality of life

  3. Industrial development and investment promotion

  4. Human resource empowerment

  5. Robust social security system

  6. Tourism, art, and cultural heritage promotion

  7. Good governance and digital transformation

  8. Agricultural growth and farmer welfare

  9. Green development and environmental sustainability

  10. Building a $4.3 trillion economy by 2047

 

Major Sectoral Allocations

Infrastructure & Water Projects

  • Rs. 32,000 crore allocated to bring Yamuna water to the Shekhawati region

  • Work orders worth Rs. 26,000 crore issued under the Ram Setu water project

  • Rs. 4,000 crore provision under the VB G Ram G Yojana

Health & Medical Services

  • Rs. 32,526 crore allocated — 53% higher than 2023–24

  • 500-bed IPD tower at JK Lon Hospital (Jaipur)

  • 200-bed pediatric IPD facility at RUHS

Education

  • Rs. 69,000 crore allocated, 35% more than 2023–24

  • 400 schools to be upgraded as CM Rise Schools with Rs. 1,000 crore provision

Green Budget

  • Rs. 33,476 crore earmarked for environmental sustainability

  • Namo Nurseries at all district headquarters

  • Namo Parks at Panchayat level

  • Oxygen Zones in 16 districts

 

Transparency in Competitive Exams: Rajasthan State Testing Agency

To ensure fair and transparent recruitment processes, the government announced the establishment of the Rajasthan State Testing Agency (RSTA). The agency will develop modern online testing centers to conduct competitive examinations securely and efficiently.

 

Employment Generation & Youth Focus

The government reaffirmed its commitment to creating 4 lakh government jobs in five years:

  • Over 1 lakh appointments already completed

  • Recruitment underway for 1.54 lakh posts

  • Recruitment calendar released for another 1 lakh posts

  • More than 2 lakh private sector jobs created

 

Farmers’ Welfare & Rural Development

  • Over Rs. 10,900 crore transferred to 76 lakh farmers under Kisan Samman Nidhi

  • Yamuna water project to boost irrigation in Shekhawati

  • Strengthened agricultural and rural development focus

 

Women Empowerment Initiatives

  • Rural Women BPOs to be established across districts

  • Under CM Nari Shakti Udyam Protsahan Yojana, SHG loan limit increased from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 1 crore

  • Under Lakhpati Didi Yojana, loan limit enhanced to Rs. 1.5 lakh per beneficiary

 

Tourism & Heritage Development

  • Ultra-luxurious special tourism zone to be developed in Khudi (Jaisalmer)

  • Rs. 200 crore provision under Shekhawati Haveli Yojana for restoration of 660 identified havelis

 

Employees’ Welfare Measures

A high-level committee will be formed to examine:

  • Pay scale rationalization

  • Promotion avenues

  • Recommendations in light of the upcoming Eighth Pay Commission

The committee will conduct comparative studies and submit recommendations to the state government.

 

Implementation Track Record

The Chief Minister highlighted strong performance in implementing previous budget announcements:

  • 86% of 2025–26 announcements fulfilled

  • 93% of 2024–25 announcements implemented

Out of 2,718 total announcements in recent budgets, 2,434 have already been implemented, demonstrating rapid execution.

 

A Budget for Inclusive and Sustainable Rajasthan

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma concluded that the State Budget 2026–27 aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, while ensuring Rajasthan becomes prosperous, self-reliant, and future-ready.

With significant investments in infrastructure, water security, education, healthcare, green development, women empowerment, and employment, the budget positions Rajasthan firmly on the path toward long-term, inclusive growth.
