Pending electricity-connection work at Jaipur's Todi depot, charging facilities and land for bus depots were key items in a review of the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Chief Secretary V. Srinivas directed departments to prioritise unfinished work and ensure the infrastructure needed for smooth electric-bus operations is available on time.
The coordination meeting at the Government Secretariat also reviewed how Jaipur's government and private bus services operate and are monitored, with a focus on improving coordination between them.
Todi depot power connection and charging facilities
Officials discussed pending work related to the electricity connection at Todi depot, the availability of land for depots at approved locations, and the development of charging facilities for electric buses. The chief secretary asked the departments concerned to give these tasks priority.
For Jaipur commuters, the review puts attention on the facilities that support day-to-day bus services: depots, electricity supply, charging and coordination between operators.
250 buses delivered against 675 approved for eight cities
Local Self Government Department official Ravi Jain told the meeting that 675 electric buses have been approved under the scheme for eight Rajasthan cities: Jaipur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Ajmer, Alwar, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur. Of these, 250 buses have been delivered.
| Programme measure | Position shared on October 22 |
|---|---|
| Electric buses approved | 675 across eight Rajasthan cities |
| Electric buses delivered | 250 across the programme |
| Cities covered by approvals | Jaipur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Ajmer, Alwar, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur |
The delivery total covers the eight-city programme. It does not establish how many buses have entered passenger service or how many have been allocated to Jaipur.
Ridership, fare income and service coordination under review
Srinivas sought details of the number, operations and monitoring of government and private buses in Jaipur. He directed officials to make Traffic Control Boards (TCBs) functional at locations where electric buses operate, define key performance indicators and prepare a clear action plan to assess service effectiveness.
The operational review is to include total passengers carried under PM e-Bus Sewa, average daily ridership and fare revenue. Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) and private bus services were also discussed.
Officials were asked to explore opportunities for private bus operators to shift towards electric buses. The next steps centre on completing infrastructure work and strengthening service monitoring; no new Jaipur route list, fare change or dated completion deadline was announced at the meeting.
